I qualified with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Adult Nursing from the University of Leeds in March 2013 and have since gained over 13 years of diverse experience across acute, emergency and primary care settings, with progressive leadership responsibilities.

Following qualification, I began my career at Leeds General Infirmary (LGI), a Major Trauma Centre, working on the Male Orthopaedic and Plastic Trauma Ward for 18 months. During this role, I developed a strong foundation in the assessment and management of patients with complex trauma injuries, delivering high-quality nursing care within a busy acute environment.

While awaiting visa documentation to travel to Australia, I worked in a private hospital providing pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing a wide range of planned surgical procedures, including spinal, gynaecological, orthopaedic, ophthalmology and ENT surgery.

In 2014, I travelled to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, combining travel with nursing employment in Brisbane and Sydney. During this time, I worked across several hospitals in a variety of adult nursing specialties, adapting quickly to different healthcare settings and broadening my clinical knowledge and experience.

In March 2015, I joined the Acute Medical Assessment Suite (AMAS) at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI), Newcastle upon Tyne. I worked as a Band 5 Registered Nurse for three years before being promoted to Band 6, a role I held for a further two and a half years. As a Band 6, I was responsible for coordinating and managing a 49-bed assessment unit, overseeing patient flow from the Emergency Department through the assessment process and onwards to the most appropriate inpatient ward. Alongside operational leadership, I maintained responsibility for delivering safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients with a wide range of acute medical conditions.

I subsequently moved to the Emergency Department at the RVI, where I worked as a Band 5 Registered Nurse for three and a half years. This role further enhanced my assessment, clinical decision-making and prioritisation skills while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment caring for patients with a broad spectrum of emergency presentations.

In March 2022, I joined Durham Dales Health Federation as a Junior Nurse Practitioner. Since then, I have progressed within the organisation to my current role as Clinical Team Lead. Alongside my leadership responsibilities, I continue to deliver autonomous clinical practice through primary care clinics and acute home visits as part of the Vulnerable Adults Wraparound Service.

As Clinical Team Lead, I support the operational management of the multidisciplinary clinical team, providing day-to-day leadership, coordinating clinical services, supporting workforce management, and contributing to service development while maintaining a strong focus on delivering safe, patient-centred care. My career has provided me with extensive experience across secondary and primary care, enabling me to develop strong leadership, clinical assessment, decision-making and service improvement skills, alongside a commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare.
