I began my pharmacy career in 2011 at Asda Pharmacy, where I gained my Medicines Counter Assistant qualification in April 2011 before progressing to become a Dispensing Assistant in October 2011.

After leaving Asda, I worked at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) Pharmacy before returning to community pharmacy.

In 2015, I moved back into a hospital setting at Sunderland Royal Hospital, where I completed my Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills and BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science. In 2018, I qualified as an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT).

In 2020, I joined DDHF as the first Pharmacy Technician for Wear Valley Primary Care Network (PCN). My role initially focused on medication safety searches but has since expanded to include telephone and face-to-face clinics, supporting patients with blood pressure queries, titration of medications, lipid-lowering therapies, and a wide range of medication-related queries.

In July 2023, I was appointed Lead Pharmacy Technician for Wear Valley PCN. Alongside my clinical role, I manage and support a team of two Pharmacy Technicians and work closely with the Lead Clinical Pharmacist to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care across the network.
I enjoy the variety that my role offers, as no two days are the same. I am passionate about supporting patients to get the most from their medicines and working collaboratively with colleagues to continually improve the care we provide.
