BHAWA – Step Challenge Winner!

Steps challenge winners:
1st place Kathryn Ford with 210,683 steps
2nd place Mandi Coglan with 197,036 steps
3rd place Jade Blair with 150,319 steps

Congratulations and well done to the winners and all of you who took part. Overall 12 people submitted their step count, walking a total of 1,373,149 steps equal to 688 miles – the equivalent to walking from Innovation House to Dusseldorf in Germany so well done to all 🏆

Spring COVID Booster Campaign
We have now completed the initial round of COVID Boosters for DDHF care homes. 531 vaccinations have been administered up to 9th May with 15% of patients declining so far. Mop up sessions will be arranged over the coming weeks. Thanks to all those involved.

Fire Drill
Reminder to all staff that if the fire alarm is activated any other time than 10.30am on a Monday that this is not a test and all staff must evacuate. Additionally to this, all staff must remember to sign out when not in the building as the drill identified staff members not on site who were still signed in.

Statutory & Mandatory Training
We have decided to adopt the “skills for health” training requirements, therefore staff are only required to complete certain training courses either yearly, twice or three yearly. Please see link for updated list: Statutory and Mandatory Training

BHAWA – Healthy Eating

May is coeliac awareness month and as part of Mays BHAWA we are doing recipes of the week to promote healthy, gluten-free recipes for people to try at home:

Right Care Right Person is a phased programme of partnership working and withdrawal of the police from certain types of demand, aiming to ensure that vulnerable people are given the right care and support when they are in crisis.

Green Impact Award – Energy Saving
Typically, computers in use account for 34%, computers on standby 3% and monitors 7% of electrical carbon footprint. Fridges 27%, Heating and cooling water 7%, Lighting 14%, Fan Heaters and air con 5%.  To play our part in reducing our footprint in this you will see some “Think Green” stickers appearing around Innovation House.

Measles
Please see email distributed by Andrew regarding the potential measles case at Durham A&E on Friday 24th May between 9.00pm & Midnight. There is currently increased frequency of measles generally and it can be passed to others before symptoms develop. The best protection is to have two doses of the MMR vaccine. Learning Disability & Autism Awareness Mandatory Training – Tier 1 Part 2
Please ensure that all staff sign up to one of the events within the link. Please note that you will need to have completed the online Tier 1 Part 1 learning as your certificate for this will be requested once you have registered. Please send certificates once completed to Andrea.
