In previous years DDHF have carried out collections around Christmas as we all recognise that we are fortunate at Christmas that we are able to enjoy the festive period whilst others may find this an incredibly difficult time of year financially.
Foodbank for Feeding Families
This year we were approached by Feeding Families a charity based in North East England that offers support, hope and security to those experiencing food poverty. As an organisation we arranged for a food bank collection and we were overwhelmed by the amount of donations received from staff including Christmas gifts, soups and ingredients to make a Christmas lunch.
We were able to collect over 250 items of food to be donated and also received cash donations which we used to buy more essential items to support those in need at what should be a joyful time of year.
Christmas Jumper Day and Raffle for Angel Trust
In addition to the Foodbank this year we have also incorporated some fundraising into our annual staff Secret Santa and Christmas Party day so we raised funds with a Friday full of Festivities which included Wear a Christmas Jumper for £1, enter our raffle and a buffet for all staff with all proceeds going to the Angel Trust in Bishop Auckland. We raised over £120 with prizes donated from staff, and
DDHF will continue to support local charities throughout the year to show support for the local community and keep you updated on our projects so watch this space.
